DR Euro Sales (By Model) : 2007-2019

The DR 5

DR cars are made in Macchia d'Isernia in Italy, which seems strange as it is a tiny place. Mind you the volumes aren't very large. The idea is to take mainly Chery sourced models, add some modifications and assemble in Italy. What the expected volume of cars was I don't know but below we can see what they delivered.

2007-09. The first three years, the cars were sold without a dealer network, but were presented at supermarkets and shopping centres. In this time, three models were released, the 5, 1 and 3. The 5 was a small SUV which was based on the Chery Tiggo 3. The 1 was based on the Chery QQ but it was actually taken from the Riich M1, Riich being a Chery brand.

2010-14. The 5 and 1 models were in play and two others were added. The 2 was a Chery A1 supermini and CityCross . Sales peaked in 2010, then started to fall away presumably because its distribution model wasn't that effective.

2015-19. The CityCross is a Riich M1 estate car which is lifted in height to be a crossover and Zero a Chery QQ3 mini car. The company moved into a dealership arrangement and new models were introduced. The 3 is a Chery Tiggo  compact SUV, the 4 a JAC S3 a slightly larger crossover and the 5 a Chery Tiggo 5 SUV.

The brand entered the Spanish market in 2019 I noticed, with modest sales of 88 cars. Will it enter more markets? MG has a more sophisticated range and they are expanding into Europe. I'm picking DR will be more suited to southern Europe.
