I've already covered West Europe, East Europe, the Americas and Asia. What's left is here. It's growing quite quickly but overall it is a very small part of the global enterprise that is vehicle manufacturing.
Cars: A major part of the figures below is Iran. However, it is vulnerable to US pressure not to trade with the country so I assume the numbers will drop substantially for 2018. Australia is also going to drop but in addition, disappear as it ends its car production. Morocco and Algeria look in a good position though. Egypt has been sliding for some time.
Back in the year 2000, Australia was the biggest car manufacturing nation listed under 'The Rest' with 36% of the total but now has all but gone. It wasn't competitive with high wage costs and an unfavourable exchange rate so couldn't survive without protection or subsidies.
Vehicles: Not much changes here despite 440,000 units added. South Africa's commercial vehicle manufacturing attracts a high double count figure as local content cannot be that high.
