From these sales figures, we can see that in 2019 there was a sudden drop in pick-up sales. From the 1st of January 2019, pick-ups were no longer exempted from tax on company vehicles. Then after the 1st July, buyers also had to pay an ecology penalty when purchasing. Therefore this growing segment had had its wings clipped.
The Ford Ranger outgunned the Hilux and these two are the dominant force in the market. Again the two German brands have no answer to Ford and the Japanese contingency. The last two on the list are about to face extinction while VW's entry took a battering on the sales front.
