Registrations were down 8% in February and also -10% YTD. Renault and Fiat have been exchanging top spot for the last few years but Fiat has dropped down to fifth so far this year so Renault is clearly ahead of the rest.
It seems Renault is now selling the Dacia Duster as its own model here so that will help Renault maintain a strong position in the market.
Toyota is making a concerted effort to bridge the gap, up from seventh last year. Hyundai and VW have also passed Fiat.
BYD is up to eighth while Chery and Jaecoo are prominent. MG isn't as strong here as it is in many other European markets.
Mazda isn't in Türkiye because the e-call (emergency call) system used in cars, requires the SIM card to be used in the system to belong to one of the operators operators.
Mazda was unable or unwilling to meet this requirement so it is not possible for the vehicles to be sold here. It sounds rather strange.
Mitsubishi left the market during 2024 but is cooperating with Renault which had a factory in Türkiye. Model sharing may come into play so where that leads I'm unsure.
