Registrations were down 43% in August and down 40% YTD. This is due to a tax on cars introduced in 2025. In 2024, registrations were poor early in the year, then took off toward the end of the year. December up 105% as people understandably acted to avoid the price rise. The total year was only up 12%, showing how low the earlier part of the year was.
Toyota lost the top spot to Škoda last year but has decisively taken the lead back in 2025. Volkswagen is third, just ahead of Kia. The top six on 2024 are the same, just stacked slightly differently.Toyota has five of the top ten models, with Škoda chiming in with a couple.
