Türkiye Passenger Car Sales : 2024

Türkiye is the new name for the country in case you are wondering about the spelling.  

Registrations for December were up 7% and up 2% for the complete year so very settled. Renault has been the most successful brand in the 21st century but Fiat hit the top for the first time during this time covered, in 2022. However, Renault is back on top due to Fiat losing ground rather than anything it did. 

And Fiat certainly lost ground. A lack of new models and intense competition could be reasons but there may be others. 

Chery is a new arrival and a surprisingly successful one in such a short time too, bumping VW into fourth. Chinese brands are starting to make their mark here. BYD has agreed to build a factory here, with a capacity to make 150,000 cars per annum. It is expected to open in 2026. 

Togg (picture at top) is a local start up brand, producing a compact electric SUV with more models to follow. It had a handy 51% increase. KG Mobility had a very good year, up over 700%. BYD was up even more so that factory will come in useful at that rate.
