Renault Production North Africa (Model) : 2015-19

There are three plants on the African continent, all of them in the Arabic North. There are two in Morocco, in Casablanca in which is located the larger facility (300,000 units) and Tangier (100,000). In Algeria the assembly operation is in Oran, on the north-west coast of the country.

Morocco. The Dacia and Renault brands are a very popular here, taking about 40% of the total market in 2019. Production is around the 400,000 mark, with four models made here. A planned increase in capacity has been suspended for now, with Renault reassessing its operations and reducing its staff levels.

Algeria. The number if cars being made by Renault was increasing but slipped slightly in 2019, despite the introduction of the Clio in 2018. The country encouraged CKD assembly of cars which means assembly of kits. It's a complex situation that hasn't gone well.

From what I can gather, the government has now revoked the duty benefit for CKD cars that induced plants being set up. The problem seems to be that the assembly facilities haven't achieved what was hoped, in fact the opposite. How this new situation will affect the Renault operation will become apparent soon enough.
