I colour coded the list to show where brands historically originated. This shows that brands from Asia are totally dominant and a few from Europe and the US add a little colour further down the list. As cars have to be assembled here to sell, the number of brands and especially the range of models is quite limited. Below the top 50, sales in terms of volume fall away quite quickly.
Suzuki is the boss around here but Tata is improving nicely. Korean models are also doing well. Renault has defied the odds with a range that is holding its own. Ford had two plants here but couldn't make a business case with substantial losses. It's pulled out of assembly after decades of doing business here. It follows GM that did the same a few years ago. Even less choice now.
