Spain Passenger Car Sales : 2026 (Jan-July)

Registrations were up 4% in July and 6% YTD. Toyota became the best selling brand in 2022 and has remained there since. The 2025 share below is for the complete year. Volkswagen is holding onto second place from local brand SEAT.

The last time a brand achieved double digit market share was Renault in 2005 (11.5%). So while in Spain no brand really dominates with a large market share, Toyota does have a strong lead in 2026. Sales are well spread among the brands below the leader.

The best selling models are the Dacia Sandero (21,732), SEAT Ibiza (18,307), Toyota Corolla (15,357), Toyota C-HR (14,686) and the Peugeot 208 (14,593).

Alpine Brand Deliveries: 2025-26 (H1)

Renault has resurrected the Alpine brand designed to lift Renault's image as sporty and fun. It seems to be working. From the A110 coupé, the A290 electric hot hatch to the new A390 electric crossover.

Q1 deliveries were up 70% on 2025 YOY. It's on a roll as it expands the range. Alpine has avoided the outright two seater convertible sports car that is currently not particularly in favour. That said, the A110 is a two seater sports car but with a hard top which makes it a coupé. Does that make a difference? Not sure it does.

Dacia Brand Car/LCV Deliveries: 2025-26 (H1)

Since 2021, Dacia has increased each year. Then suddenly it delivers a 8% drop in H1. Why? Pressure from value focused Chinese carmakers and other brands lowering prices to maintain volume.

Dacia's market share in its home market of Romania have dropped from 29% share in 2025 to just 18% up to H1 2026 which is big. The home market is very important to Dacia but it does seem more than market forces would drive such a sudden change.

So is this volume reduction a realignment of volume for the brand or simply a short term hiccup? Dacia may have resisted taking a discount route. Whatever the reason, in a world of indulgence and excess, I like that a no frills, budget brand can survive and prosper.
