
Of the 1.525 million care registered in Italy, the Panda made up 102,500 of them. That was over double of what the second placed Dacia Sandero achieved.
The Jeep Avenger (pictured above) was next with 48,000 sold and then a drop to a chasing pack.
There were nearly 100,000 PHEV registrations (6.5%), 95,000 BEVs (6.2%) which 1,33 million (87.3%) were neither of those.
Colour coding reveals that while European brands are a common sight on Italian stradas, there are plenty of cars from other regions.
Fiat used to be so dominant here but now struggles to maintain its top spot overall. The Panda saves the day with its impressive popularity. 71% of all of Fiat's registrations are for that model. Perhaps not a healthy reliance.
I was surprised to see the BYD Seal U making the chart but the times they are a changin'. DR has a model down the list (see below). It is an Italian firm that assembles Chinese sourced models.
