Registrations were up 19% for December and 10% YTD. While my historical data doesn't go back as far as I'd like, it does seem that 2024 was a very good year for passenger car registrations.
Chevrolet has a long history of being the top brand but not for several years...until 2022 when it returned to lead again. In its third year as numero uno, it retains that position but with a reduced margin. Hyundai has got past a slipping Suzuki and into second place. BYD is flying up the list like a bird (seagull?) and along with VW, moved into third and fourth placings.
Some Chinese brands have arrived in recent years and are doing well. It will be interesting to see how they continue and one could safely assume that they will be joined by a host of others.
