Land Rover Global Sales : 2022

Registrations for 2022 were -20% and for the fourth quarter were up an encouraging 7%. Figures are distorted by supply issues as we all know but that seems to be passing now. The '22 figure is 40% down on the peak in 2018. A policy of not chasing volume is part of at as would more recent supply issues.

Data source: Tata.

By Model: All models except the Defender were down in sales. A 62% increase for that model in Q4 pushed it ahead for the full year. It has been the top selling model for two consecutive years and the company can't make enough of them with a protracted waiting list.

Of the others the Evoque is still a strong selling model, the new Range Rover will hopefully do better next year, it's Q4 performance indicates more of them are getting to customers. The Discovery continues to disappoint and a fine car it is too.

By Region: North America has yielded to China as the biggest market for LR, not much in it though. I'm not sure why NA has taken a sales hit but at least Q4 was up. The UK and Europe have been turning off diesel vehicles and the company has been scrambling to switch to hybrid propulsion. Otherwise, it's a nice spread of sales across regions.
