What a road to experience driving a Mclaren |
I have put together some sales data for the increasingly popular Mclaren marque. I would have liked more detail but regions is what I have. Mclaren Automotive was formed in 2010 and started selling cars the following year. It has grown quickly since as its reputation for building fine cars has been proven.
This isn't an easy thing to do, taking on well established players that have been in the market for many years. If I was thinking of buying a super sports car, this would be my first port of call (not that I am in this financial stratosphere). They are also unique in that they don't have plans to enter the SUV segment.
Sales are now approaching 5,000 units per annum. North America is the largest market, with Europe next. The UK accounts for about half of that. The chart below shows the regional sales.
Regions | 2018 | % | +/- | 2017 | % | +/- | 2016 | % | +/- | 2015 | % |
N America | 1,748 | 36% | 42% | 1,234 | 37% | 8% | 1,139 | 35% | 106% | 553 | 33% |
Europe | 1,599 | 33% | 43% | 1,115 | 33% | 2% | 1,094 | 33% | 153% | 432 | 26% |
Asia/Pacif | 843 | 17% | 57% | 538 | 16% | -2% | 550 | 17% | 90% | 290 | 18% |
China | 354 | 7% | 141% | 147 | 4% | -36% | 228 | 7% | -3% | 234 | 14% |
Rest | 285 | 6% | -7% | 306 | 9% | 11% | 275 | 8% | 90% | 145 | 9% |
Total | 4,829 | 45% | 3,340 | 2% | 3,286 | 99% | 1,654 |
In some places everyone seems to own one! |
