Denmark Sales : 2021

Caution: Always watch where you are going

Registrations for December were -22% and -6% for the full 12 months. Looking at the data, the '+/-' column below is comparing market share variance for 2021 with 2020.

VW maintains its lead without a problem, although with a sizably reduced margin. Toyota moved up a place but BMW has taken a giant leap up to 4th from 10th. Clearly no chip shortage yet with this company. Renault did its usual sales collapse and Tesla did its impression of a cork in a choppy sea, all over the place. JLR is a tiny operation here yet managed to shrink that still further in a most effective manner. Something about rock bottom and digging comes to mind.

Point of interest: In December, electric cars made up a quarter of all registrations and when adding that to hybrids, close to 60%. With some living in high rise apartments, charging at home isn't an option so there needs to be enough public charging points for the increased demand.
