Russia Top Premium Graph : 2005-20
The premium segment has grown strongly in Russia since 2005, a trend that is seen in many countries. What has changed the landscape somewhat is tariffs that have increased on imported vehicles. BMW, Mercedes and Volvo assemble some vehicles so have benefited somewhat from these moves.
Around 2007 and 2008, Volvo and JLR were the best selling marques. Then came a rush from the German brands as well as Lexus. As duties have had their impact, full importers Lexus, Audi and JLR have pulled back on volumes. BMW/MINI and Mercedes have benefitted the most.
