If the German car buyer wants a small hatch, it has to almost always be a VW Golf. 136,000 examples found buyers and that was after a drop in sales by a third. Anyway, after daylight comes the Passat (+3%) and Tiguan (-31%). The Golf's main competition - the Ford Focus - almost sold the same number than a year before, but that was still far short of the VW.
The Renault Zoe had a stellar year (+222%) although the take up of electric cars has been slow in the country. I suppose blasting down an autobahn isn't the best way to beat range anxiety.
