First taking the BAM brands out of the equation, how are things shaping up in Spain? From 2010 to 2016, sales of the other premium marques were up 74%. Now individually: Infiniti +233% Lexus 231% JLR +124% (LR +101% Jag +232%) Porsche 240% Volvo +24% Alfa Romeo -14% Cadillac -94%. Tesla is new any inconsequential for now.
Summary: Infiniti and Lexus did well as did Jaguar Land Rover as always. Volvo was the biggest but was headed off by JLR in 2012. It nearly came back but Jaguar's recent success saw off that challenge.
Now adding the other brands to the BAM marques, how do things stack up? Total sales growth goes to 4%, due to the BAM brands increasing 40%. The 'Others' took 17% in 2010 and by 2016 had passed 20%. As for the BAM brands, Mercedes has grown the most since 2010 with Audi third. The BMW brand is actually third but MINI's popularity takes it to the top. The latter took 80% of all premium sales in 2016.
Summary: The BAM trio are clearly preferred to all others and that should continue. The three biggest in 2016 were 1) BMW & Mini, 2) Audi, 3) Mercedes.
