Proton Model Sales : 2023

Back in 1985, Proton became the sole Malaysian car manufacturing brand. Initially making Mitsubishi cars under licence, it gradually became more independent. It's not a large exporter, relying on the domestic market for most of its sales. 49.9% of the company was acquired by Geely in 2017.

The years below are from 2020 to 2023. 2023 was the best year since 2012 and the fifth consecutive year of growth. Sales have grown consistently over the years shown below, in 2023 of 154,600 units and up 9% over 2022. December sales were 12,711.

The X90 crossover has arrived (pictured above), so that should get an all round thumbs up. An S70 medium sized saloon car has also just arrived so the company is busy.
