Cyprus Sales : 2021

Kia is in front after a tussle with Toyota for top spot. For now, it's a 1-2-1-2 over the past few years as they jockey for the lead. Nissan and Hyundai each took a hit. Because of the smaller numbers and supply issues, there are quite dramatic changes. Even during the year, a brand can go from hero to zero in a blink of an eye.

Registrations were +4% for the total year. In the chart below, the '+/-' column below is comparing market share variance for 2021 with 2020. Total sales are not that far off 2019 and before but are still somewhat subdued.

Point of interest: Electric cars accounted for just 78 of the 10,600 registrations or less than 1%. Petrol made up 56% of the total, hybrids 29% and diesel 14%. The only difference of note with 2020 was that hybrids and diesel swapped percentages to a surprisingly identical degree. So while the electric is not taking off, hybrids are.
