Registrations for cars and light commercials for December were -17% and +10% in 2021 as a whole. The '+/-' column below is comparing market share variance for 2021 with 2020. Therefore, any increase below in green is in addition to the 10% increase the market enjoyed.
Manufacturing locally means avoiding an import tariff, so they are the only ones that sell in large numbers. Therefore only a handful of brands dominate the registration chart below. One of those is Toyota and it had an amazing increase this year, leaving VW in its wake. VW took the top spot here in 2004 and has held it ever since...until 2021. Fiat has done well in contrast to Renault, Chevrolet and Ford. Are the latter three pulling back?
