Car sales were -25% for the year so things are not bleak here in this car-producing nation. So looking at market share, Škoda consolidated its place at the top with Hyundai and Kia holding their own. VW was a loser and must be keeping a close eye on a fast-improving Toyota.
Opel, Mazda and Ford did what they consistently have been doing in Europe, aiming toward better margins at the expense of sales. Land Rover had a useful 26% sales growth, along with other brands toward the lower reaches of the sales chart.
