Singapore Car Sales : 2020

Toyota/Lexus top of the chart

Unlike many places, Singapore sales are down because they were going to be anyway. This is due to its unusual COE system, which creates a cycle of ups and downs (it covers what they are here). The last three months were much better, although registrations were -16% in December.  For the year in total, they were -39%.

Considering the poor sales, several brands did remarkably well. MG came from nowhere (actually 43rd) to reach 17th place and Land Rover went up five places courtesy of a 13% gain. Peugeot achieved a huge 136% improvement and SsangYong 394%. Like I said earlier, its bidding system for buying certificates muddies the water.

Honda took a -58% hit and lost the top spot to Toyota/Lexus. (I don't know why Lexus can't be separate). Mercedes and BMW both did well. Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Renault all had heavy falls.

Honda needs to rev up the thrill a bit more
