VW Brand Global Model Production : 2022

VW are generous with their data so fair play to them. Why more aren't is probably due to being too precious about control of information and insecurities around how it could be interpreted. The truth is what counts in a capitalist society is profit, not volume so why be so protective of sales statistics? As they say, volume is vanity but profit is sanity.

Sales of passenger cars were up 5% to 4,764,358. There is some combining below of similarly sized vehicles, done by VW. I grouped the first three but with models itemised, some combined by VW. VW also combined the Polo - Virtus - Nivus (pic above) - Taigo models. Also in need of clarification is the T-Cross - Tacqua - Tagun combo. This way, the list doesn't stretch too far and loses some clarity.

The Tiguan is the best selling nameplate but the medium sized model grouping tops the list I've compiled. Electric cars are making their presence felt but that will take time.

Regional sales: A third consecutive drop in global sales should be arrested in 2023 as the improvement in production volume would imply. The Asia / Pacific region is up to 56% of the total and was nearly the only region not to fall.
