Land Rover Global Sales : 2020

Doing what they do better than anyone else

Global sales were -29% for the fourth quarter of 2020 and for the full year -18%. That last three month period was disappointing but with the issues surrounding the Covid virus, it's hard to be sure what the reason was. At least the full year was a sound return.

The Evoque was the leading model with 70,000 units registered. 22,800 Defenders found new homes but the rollout of this new model cannot have been easy with disruptions that have dogged the industry.

On to the regions, where China delivered a small increase in sales and strong gain in share (now 22%). North America was OK but Europe as a whole disappointed.

Land Rover is a strong brand and no doubt 2021 will show that, providing factories can still work. It must be a headache for those running plants.

  1. I wonder how the group will adapt its manufacturing, now that the Slovakian plant is operational. After a year of operation, there should be a visible sign of market gain in Central Eastern Europe, if the theory of loyalty for local brands would prove right.

  2. Slovakian data release is very slow but when it arrives, we should see some effect in Slovakia but not startling.
