Registrations were down 12% in December and also -3% for the complete year. Toyota has been the best selling brand since 2017 and is clearly intent on staying there. Its market share so far this year is down on the previous three years but is still well ahead of Volkswagen in second place, despite being down 9%.
VW was dethroned by Toyota but is still a popular brand here with 11% of the market and up from fourth place in 2024. Market share improved to the tune of 22%. Škoda slipped slightly (-4%) while Volvo share was down 25% and Mercedes-Benz dropped 10%. Tesla was down 30%
BYD arrived during 2023 and MG during 2024 and while both have settled in OK, Chinese brands are not prominent. Nevertheless, BYD was up 27% this year and MG was up 257%.
