The brands below are the ones that are affiliated with Gaikindo which includes the big players. With import duty, there are fewer brands and those that are there tend to dominate. As is the case of many Asian countries, Toyota is miles ahead. Its subsidiary Daihatsu comfortably ensconced in second place and together they command over half the vehicle market.
Registrations were -2% in 2023 despite the year started strongly compared to 2022 but fell away as the year progressed. Production stood at 1.4 million units with 505,000 fully built vehicles exported and 66,000 sent out as CKD (requiring assembly from kits).
