KG Mobility Global Sales : 2023

You may have been surprised the supplier of this data is not SsangYong Motor but KG Mobility. The new owners decided on a new company name in late March 2023 to emphasise its broadened vision beyond simply building cars but embracing mobility and the associated technology.

In Korea, the name SsangYong has been replaced by KG Mobility totally. Whether the name SsangYong will disappear globally hasn't been stated at this point, to my knowledge anyway but one would think so.

Total: Sales in 2023 reached 116,428, up 2% from 2022. December sales were 6,608, down 27% on a year earlier (9,094). In fact, as the year progressed, volume fell noticeably. The company said it was due to weak demand domestically.

Model: The new Torres model (pictured above) is the main driver in the increase enjoyed. It started selling in June 2022 and is already the clear best seller with 39% of volume in 2023.

Export: The last three years have shown a pattern of increase, increasing from 28,000 in 2021 to 53,100 in 2023. The comment about soft domestic sales is borne out by the shift to more export deliveries. Domestic sales were down 5,300 and exports were up 7,800. Less dependence on just one market - their home one - is a healthier position to be in anyway.
