Registrations were down 18% in December and -29% for the year. Not a great result for importers or dealers. An adverse economic situation was the reason. Weak economic activity and restrictions on access to financing persisted throughout the year.
Chevrolet has taken a dive and Hyundai stepped in with gusto. Kia and Suzuki were likewise keen to take the top spot. Toyota would have been my pick to become numero uno. Chery fell from 2nd to 9th and VW 8th to 13th.
Four brands within 500 sales of each other in the top four places is unusual. It wouldn't take much change to shuffle those brands around. Overall, the brands are a mix from all around the globe. Chinese ones have been here for some time but no longer making large gains. All inall proving to be a volatile market.
