UK Car Sales By Model : 2017

The UK car sales by model are in a state of flux after years of relative inertia. The last time that either a Ford or Vauxhall didn't hold the top two spots in the UK car market was way back in 1973 when the Morris Marina was second. This year the Golf took that second spot.

Another new fact was it's the first time a German brand car (VW) has been above fourth (the British were quick to forgive their cheating, polluting ways). Yet another interesting detail is the Nissan Qashqai's fourth was the best place ever for an Asian brand. Or course, it was designed for European tastes in the UK and built there too.

The light commercial vehicle market is listed below, dominated by the Ford Transit range. Originally from the UK and still hugely popular there, the Transit now comes from Turkey. The only local model here is the Vivaro, which enjoys modest sales.
