North East England Sales - Brand : 2016

This the area that Nissan has a large plant, which also makes Infiniti now. Registrations were -2% in 2016 and this is smallest of all the UK regions for total number of car sales. The population isn't large either mind you. Seat is the only brand that does better here than anywhere else in the UK. Nissan does well enough but nothing outstanding.

Those makes that were stronger here are: Vauxhall on 11.4% beats the national average of 9.3%. Nissan's 7.9% (5.7%) is good too. Seat's 2.5% (1.8%) isn't as much as I expected being the top region for the brand. Suzuki gets 2.5% (1.4%) with Fiat 3.1% (2.4%).

Some that did worse: Mercedes 4.1% (6.3%), BMW 5.0% (6.8%), Audi 5.5% (6.6%), Land Rover 2.0% (3.0%) and Porsche 0.3% (0.5%).

Summary: Premium brands are below average for the UK in this less affluent, working class area.
