Two countries in Europe, one in the North Atlantic Ocean, the other in the Mediterranean Sea. Both around the 10,000 registrations per annum. Premium marques are not big in Iceland, but are popular in Cyprus. This should favour JLR.
Iceland: Only LR had a presence here but in 2017 Jaguar is establishing itself well. An SUV with 4wd will go down a treat here. The monstrous growth in LR is mainly down to the recovery of the economy. It outsells BMW and Audi so is LR is a popular brand. LR has a strong 1.32% of the market.
Cyprus: LR is even more popular here with a gallant Jaguar only achieving 12.1% of the JLR total over the last seven years. LR was in the top 10 brands for 2016 and its 2.31% share is very high, matching the UK.
Summary: While Iceland is a successful place for LR, it came up against an even more popular destination in Cyprus.
