France Passenger Car Production : 2016-17

Back in 2005, over 3 million cars were made in France, but by 2013 it was less than 1.5 million. Since then, there have been slight annual increases, culminating in the largest at 7.7% in 2017. While that sounds catastrophic, the industry has come out of that in a stronger position than formerly.

Peugeot: A 50% increase has been driven by strong growth with the 208 and 3008, both of which are now the largest of the Peugeot models made in France. The 2008 and 308 follow closely behind and make up most of the rest.

Renault: Numbers were up 7.2% but the increase is hidden in the 'Others' column so I cannot ascertain where the growth came from.

Toyota: They make a single model, the Yaris. It was stable for the year.

smart: Like Toyota above but with a 7% decline in volume.

Citroën: It's 70% fall can be attributed to the reduction of C3 production.

DS: An upmarket model from Citroën, it's struggled to succeed and units produced confirm that.

Opel: This is the new Grandland model, made by PSA in France at the Sochaux plant.

Alpine: A new sports car made at Renault's sporting car plant in Dieppe.
