France Premium Brand Comparison : 2017

When you think that in Germany and the UK sales for premium cars is 1 million and 800,000 respectively, then the total in France of around 275,000 is low. The French figure excludes light commercials which takes a little off the total with some makes, but we are talking small numbers. In the charts below, the % in the aqua line is comparing sales to the previous year, but otherwise it is the share the brand has of the total.

If we first look at premium marques minus the big three, Volvo leads with about 30% of the total. JLR is slightly less than a quarter, with Alfa Romeo doing well, seeing off Porsche with ease.

Now taking all the above registrations and combining them into 'Others' below, the number becomes less than one in five sales. Audi was the best selling but has just fallen behind Mercedes-Benz. BMW is third but because the MINI is very popular, it wins by some margin.
