First looking at sales without the big three German brands reveals an abundance of choice anyway. Lexus is well ahead with nearly a quarter of the sales. An interesting battle is going on between Cadillac, Acura and Infiniti now that the latter has caught up with the other two.
JLR has just passed Lincoln and Tesla (estimated sales) is about to go ahead of Porsche. It will be interesting to see how Hyundai's new Genesis marque will fare. Alfa has suddenly sprung into life and you would expect it to whiz past Maserati.
The % along the pale blue brand line is compared to the previous year, while all the other figures in the column refer to the brand's share of the total. The top figure total is transferred to the lower chart as the Ofher amount.
Adding the BAM brands doesn't have the impact it has just about everywhere else. While the numbers are large, collectively they are less than 45%. Mercedes is flat, BMW Group brands are both falling back while Audi is the one doing OK. Overall there wasn't much growth over 2016 and 2017.
