Uruguay Car Sales : 2017

In the 1990's Fiat was the best seller, but in the next decade it was all Chevrolet. The last two years were not good for The General but Chev is back in 2017...and how! A 92% gain in market share is a huge shift, taking it from 8.3% to 13.4%. In fact the whole scene is marked by monumental shifts, often the case with smaller nations but markedly so this year.

Registrations were -8% in 2016 but up 19% this year. Some brands have really benefited but others not. Many Chinese brands come here, have a sales spurt then fall away. A numerous number of such brands in the others category have been through that cycle. As an example, the brand at the bottom of the list was here in 2016, but has gone now. I had to do it.

The chart below shows a % symbol that represents market share. The +/- column is increase or decrease based on the market share of 2017 against the 2016 year.
