Two countries in the central part of Europe, formerly behind the Iron Curtain with one part of the old Czechoslovakia. Car sales are not dissimilar, an average of 78,500 for Slovakia and 91,000 for Romania. However, for JLR one is bigger and growing faster than the other.
Slovakia: Jaguar averages 16.3% of JLR sales, the company taking 0.40% of all sales. There is a solidness about the numbers but the growth has been slow. The penetration is not that great. Will a new car plant being built in the country change that. I assume so but maybe not by that much.
Romania: This is Land Rover country with 90% of JLR sales and a strong 0.82% of total registrations. JLR is over twice as successful here than Slovakia.
Summary: JLR enjoys more success in Romania and the gap has been widening.
