There isn't much in car sales volume to separate these two nations, with the RSA just over 550,000 units and Turkey about 625,000 sales. After that things change. Premium brands are much more popular in South Africa so for JLR to be similar in both nations would require JLR to overachieve in Turkey.
South Africa. LR is a strong brand here and takes 88% of JLR sales. It takes over 1% by itself and 1.21% with its sibling marque added.
Turkey: LR does even better here with 90% of the total JLR sales. However, the lower premium presence here hits with just 0.31% of all sales in the country. Unlike the RSA where Jaguar is relatively stable, Jaguar sales are extremely volatile. LR is the steadying influence.
Summary: LR is an icon brand in the Republic. The issue in South Africa is the economy as total sales fall. In Turkey the premium market has its limits and JLR does well with what it gets.
