Germany Car Sales Jan-Jun 2017

Sales in Germany were down 3.5% for June but up 3.1% YTD. With neither of Europe's two largest car markets doing that well in June, manufacturers will be concerned. In Germany it could be a case of pulling back on discounting, a good move if that is the reason.

VW has lost some share in 2017 so far, in a country where things tend to be stable and predictable. Ford slipped past Opel and Toyota did the same to Nissan. Fiat is doing rather well, the Ducato van leading the way. There are plenty of others (sonstige), most of which are not identified by the supplier of the data.

The chart below shows a % symbol that represents market share. The +/- column is increase or decrease based on the first six month's market share of 2017 against the full 2016 year.
