Australia Vehicle Sales Jan-Jun 2017

Unfortunately the data here comes as total sales, which adds truck makes into the mix. Ignoring that, there are changes happening here. Local car manufacturing is in the process of winding down. The brand that will feel it the most is Holden which is already falling. The question is whether it will continue to slide or new models coming in will be successful. Ford and Toyota also are involved, but are less likely to be affected.

Total sales were up 4.4% in June which brought the YTD figure to the same level as 2016. Passenger cars are down 7% but all other segments have increased.

Nissan pulled all of its car range off the market, a bold move that is costing sales. Land Rover has felt the absence of its top selling model as it waits for the new one. Chrysler has dropped from 10th to 19th over the last two and a half years.

The chart below shows a % symbol that represents market share. The +/- column is increase or decrease based on the first six month's market share of 2017 against the full 2016 year.
