Russia Car/LCV Sales - Brand / 2016

Things are challenging in Russia and car sales are reflecting that. Yet another decrease, albeit at a slower rate. Opel departed altogether and others will follow. In 2012 sales were nudging 3 million but are half of that in just four years. There is light at the end of the tunnel but what that light is no one is sure.

Lada increased its market share for the second year running after years of the opposite. Under the ownership of Renault one should see improvements in the product, although it is still very much a work in progress. As for the other makes, I'd be surprised if many are making money. Most are hanging on, waiting for better days.

In the chart below, pale yellow represents a reduction in registrations, pale blue is decrease but a gain in market share. Green is for those who managed to grow and finally the salmon colour for those with over 100% increase. Luxury bands are not included here, due to their data not being available.
