Denmark Car/LCV Sales - Brand / 2016

VW is on the UP! in Denmark

To be able to afford a car in Denmark, you need to own a bank. It must be among the most expensive countries in the world to buy a car. Still, the Danes aren't exactly poor so they bite the bullet and pay up if they want a car. Sales were up 8.2% in 2016, and this was the seventh consecutive year of increase. 127,600 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in 2010 and now it has reached nearly 260,000! So plenty of people are taking the plunge.

VW continued being the top brand, something it has held since 2011. It also grew much faster than the market so clearly Danes were not concerned about dieselgate. Renault, Opel, Mercedes Benz and Audi also had a good year. Tesla had a shocker (no pun intended), due I believe to an incentive the previous year. Further down, Jaguar and Chrysler (Jeep) did extremely well.

In the chart below, pale yellow represents a reduction in registrations, pale blue is increase but lost market share. Green is for those exceeding the market growth and finally the salmon colour for those with over 100% increase.
