North East England Car Sales By Brand : 2015

This is the least populous of all the regions in England by some margin, with just 2.6 million. or 4.9% of the England total. Average earnings are the lowest in England at less than £22,900 (average £27,500). Population density is second to lowest at 302 persons per square kilometre (National average 407).

New car sales represent 3.7% of the national total, below average by some distance. The increase of sales of 2.2% is also below the national average (6.3%).

Within the region is Britain's largest car factory, Nissan in Sunderland. It makes some Nissan models and now Infiniti too. It is an area that needs work and better support than it gets, so Nissan is an important contributor to the local economy.

A Nissan car is finished every 62 seconds. Over 8 million have been made

If anyone in the UK or Europe is thinking of buying a car, the Nissan Qashqai, Juke, Note and Leaf are all made here, as is now the Infiniti Q30. They are all made to a high standard.

Winners: Vauxhall took 12.6% of sales (nationally 10.2%) and Nissan 8.1% (5.8%) for 3rd (6th). Hyundai 4.2% (3.3%) and Citroën 3.8% (3.0%) did better. Honda had a decent increase.

Losers: This included Ford 11.3% (12.7%), Audi 5.2% (6.3%), Mercedes 3.4% (5.5%), BMW 5.0% (6.4%), Suzuki 2.3% (3.3%) and Porsche 0.3% (0.5%). It's lack of wealth means premium marques do poorer here than average.
