Car Sales By Brand Sweden : 2014

Volvo XC 60: sales 11,790,  increase 37%,  rank 5th

No one will be surprised that Volvo leads in its home market. VW has been closing in but not in 2014. 2012 was the closest they got, moving me to suggest it was only a matter of time. Maybe that time is further off than I thought. In fact Volvo have been the top make since 1958, passing the combined sales of Opel and Vauxhall.

Total sales for Sweden were up nearly 13% in 2014, after two years of slight decline. Mercedes had a good year, forcing itself into the top 10. It was helped by the C-Class, B-Class and all new GLA. Nissan too did well, with the Qashqai and Note models. Not to be outdone, Mitsubishi rode a wave of success on the back of the Outlander.

Nissan Note enjoyed a sales increase of 96%

Saab had a brief flurry of sales before going bankrupt again! If this was an animal, you would put it out of its misery. Isn't it obvious that with so many failed attempts to revive Saab, there is a fundamental weakness? It's nice to see optimism but blind faith isn't an admirable quality. Just let it go peacefully.
