Car Sales By Brand Ireland : 2014

The Golf was the best seller in Ireland

Ireland had it's best sales year since 2008, after a rocky period. Now that the economy has settled down, things should improve, although the world's financial system is fragile. For 2014 with sales up 30%, everyone managed an increase.

Ireland went to a two period registration as done in the UK, to try stop so many sales in one month for the new number plate. The old system put most car sales in the first half of the year and few for the second half. To show that it worked, in 2012 17% of car sales were in the second half but in 2014 30%. That better spread must take a lot of pressure off dealers.

The Nissan Qashqai came in at second place

Ford and Toyota used to battle it out for top spot, but now VW has established itself in the prime place.  Dacia has done well for a new arrival, while Ssangyong is fighting its way back.
