It seems that one day in the not too distant future, you would go into a car dealer, specify a design and size it to your taste. You would then come back in a few days and pick up your car. In 2015, they plan to sell an electric version which will have only about 50 parts. It will be extruded out of a 3-D printer.
It sounds too bizarre to be true, but that is the plan and the aim of it's owner Local Motors. The car is made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic, then the wheels, power train and dashboard are added.
