Nissan UK Sales By Model : 2013

The Nissan Leaf - currently selling well, and set to grow

Nissan UK do what is common in the US, but I am unaware if it is done in the UK otherwise. That is report sales by model. It makes it easy to see at a glance how they are doing.

First up cars. They were the success of Nissan UK in 2013, with a strong 12% rise in sales. This model Qashqai is about to be replaced, but still sells well. Apparently resale values are good too. The star was the visually polarising Juke (I like its bold styling) with a 30% sales boost. The electric Leaf model is getting the sales traction it deserves too.

Model 2013 2012 %

Qashqai 50,211 45,662 10%

Juke 37,486 28,858 30%

Micra 12,306 12,527 -2%

Note 12,247 12,931 -5%

Leaf 1,812 699 159%

Pixo 559 2,073 -73%

Cars 114,621 102,750 12%

Next comes the two sports cars they sell. This segment is limited so well done Nissan for having two entrants. Unfortunately both fell back in units sold, but are halo cars that add a sporty image to the brand.

Model 2013 2012 %

GT-R 184 272 -32%

Z 151 158 -4%

Sports 335 430 -22%

Finally the SUVs and vans that are rated as private cars. Most vans are commercial vehicles and are not listed here. A modest gain for the year on modest units sold.

Model 2013 2012 %

X Trail 1,650 1,788 -8%

N200 Combi 621 360 73%

Pathfinder 428 459 -7%

Pirimastar Bus 14 28 -50%

SUV/Van 2,713 2,635 3%

TOTAL 117,669 105,815 11%

Summary: An 11% gain overall is a fine result, giving Nissan market share gain in the UK. Cars gave the brand its sales impetus. A broad range of vehicles, rewarded with success in the UK.

Quite a lot of bang for your buck
