Car Sales Norway: 2011

The Norwegian car market is not easy to get data for. The agency in charge makes a living from selling it, so I guess that is understandable. I asked them for some older, historical sales statistics but after asking why I wanted them, didn't bother replying. I'm sure that is not reflective of the people as a whole. They do give out the top ten brands as you can see below:

1 VW 20,900 15.1%
2 Toyota 15,250 11.0%
3 Ford 13,000 9.4%
4 Volvo 12,000 8.7%
5 Mitsub 7,850 5.7%
6 Skoda 7,600 5.5%
7 Peugeot 7,425 5.4%
8 Audi 7,350 5.3%
9 BMW 6,300 4.5%
10 Nissan 5,850 4.2%
Others 34,900 25.2%
Total 138,350 8.3% increase.

VW held its share but Toyota lost 2.2% of the market, dropping 18% against the total. Mitsubishi was up 67.8%. I did get to hear that other brands to grow well were Kia, MINI, Lexus and Land Rover - the Evoque being the reason for the latter marque. Fiat and many Japanese makes fared poorly though.

My guess: That Norway will do well with car sales in 2012.
