Car Market Portugal: 2011

The Portuguese car market was down 30% in 2011, against a solid 2010. December was down 51% so 2012 the outlook is not good. Renault did a fine job holding top spot and keeping a buffer from the following pack. Below are rank, sales and market share:

1 Renault 22,600 12.0%
2 Peugeot 17,500 9.3%
3 VW 17,200 9.1%
4 Citroen 14,900 7.9%
5 Opel 13,750 7.3%
6 Ford 13,200 7.0%
7 Fiat 9,800 5.2%
8 Seat 9047 4.8%
9 Mercedes 8,450 4.5%
10 Toyota 7,900 4.2%
11 BMW 7,400 3.9%
12 Nissan 7,300 3.9%
13 Audi 6,600 3.5%
14 Mitsubishi 3,550 1.9%
15 Chevrolet 3,200 1.7%
16 Hyundai 3,000 1.6%
17 Volvo 2,850 1.5%
18 Kia 2,775 1.5%
19 Skoda 2,700 1.4%
20 Dacia 2,350 1.2%
21 smart 2,250 1.2%
22 Alfa Romeo 1,850 1.0%
23 Honda 1,850 1.0%
24 MINI 1,650 0.9%
25 Mazda 1,300 0.7%
26 Suzuki 575 0.3%
27 Iveco 550 0.3%
28 Chrysler 450 0.2%
29 Isuzu 400 0.2%
30 Lancia 390 0.2%
31 Porsche 350 0.2%
32 Lexus 275 0.1%
33 Land Rover 270 0.1%
34 Jaguar 130 0.1%
35 Saab 110 0.1%
Others 50 0.0%
Total 188,300 -30%

Virtually everyone dropped sales but some who did well were Hyundai (-13.3%), Dacia (+30.8%), MINI (+0.6%), Land Rover (+28.9%). Those hurting will be Toyota (-47.1%), Chevrolet - Korea (-49.6), Honda (-51.6%) and Mazda (-66.5%).

My guess: Things are not going well in many Euro nations, and Portugal is one of those having to tighten the belt.

This design is spectacular! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost...HaHa!) Wonderful job.
I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
