Vehicle Sales Venezuela: 2010

In 2007, nearly half a million cars were sold in Venezuela, in 2010 only 125,000. The reasons are debatable but the fact is the market there has fallen greatly in the last few years. Some brands have gone altogether off the sales chart since the sales fall, others might as well have.

GM has done really well in its overall share of the market. The top four brands have over 80% of the market, which shows its current artificial nature.

In the chart below, italicised figures at the end of each line indicates a drop in market share. Now for the top 10:

Rank-Brand-Sales-Share-Inc/Dec
1 GM 50,989 40.7% 3.6
2 Ford 23,064 18.4% -20.1
3 Toyota 18,376 14.7% 28.2
4 Chrysler 10,235 8.2% -22.3
5 Kia 4,538 3.6% 5.5
6 Mitsubishi 4,411 3.5% 33.3
7 Hyundai 4,002 3.2% -18.8
8 Iveco 2,521 2.0% -17.7
9 Renault 1,001 0.8% -28.8
10 VW 981 0.8% 15.8
Otros Marcas 5,084 4.1% share.
Ventas Totales 125,202 8.3% decrease.

Summary: Where the Venezuelan market goes from here I don’t know.
