Car Sales Bentley: 2010

Bentley car production meandered along until 2004, when the Continental GT was released. 6,900 GTs were made in that year. When the Flying Spur was added in 2005, a total of 9,000 FS and GTs were made. Heady numbers indeed for such an exclusive brand. The economic meltdown cooled things off somewhat, but they still prove to be a popular choice amongst the well heeled.

Below are sales for certain countries for 2010. Bentley is not too reliant on one market, which is healthy. Ten is the magic number to be counted on the list. It is not comprehensive but only for places I have information about:

1 USA 1,531 28.9%
2 UK 993 19.4%
3 China 940 18.4%
4 Germany 201 3.9%
5 Japan 136 2.7%
6 Switzerland 94 1.8%
7 Korea 86 1.7%
8 Canada 82 1.6%
9 France 75 1.5%
10 Australia 58 1.1%
11 Singapore 49 1.0%
12 Austria 48 0.9%
13 Spain 33 0.6%
14 Belgium 31 0.6%
14 Italy 31 0.6%
16 Lebanon 22 0.4%
17 Luxembourg 15 0.3%
17 Czech Rep 15 0.3%
19 Turkey 14 0.3%
20 New Zealand 12 0.2%
21 Brazil 10 0.2%
Others 641 12.5% share.
Total 5,117 10.9% increase.

According to VW, 2009 sales figure breakdown per model as follows:

Continental Flying Spur 1,358
Continental GT 1,211
Cont GT Cabriolet 722
Arnage 147
Brooklands 106
Azure 93

As you can see by those figures, 2010 was a much better year.

Summary: A strong brand, well managed by VW and with a pleasing openness.

Below is a sequence of Photographs of an Anage being made and the finished product.
